The Michael James Organisation will soon auction five adjoining vacant erven on Strand beachfront, as instructed by the present owner, offering a prime development opportunity.

“The site, which has a total extent of 2 482m², is probably one of the last remaining beachfront properties available for development in the Western Cape, and we anticipate that it will be highly sought after at auction,” says the auction house’s Alan Scully.

Situated on the corner of Cooke and Beach Roads, the property comprises Erf 07848, which measures 496m²; Erf 18877 measuring 497m²; Erf 18878, which has an extent of 498m²; Erf 00038, which is 495m² in size, and Erf 00030 which has a measurement of 496m². The five plots will be sold as one lot.

“The zoning of the property is general residential, with hotel rights on application,” says Scully. “In my view, this magnificent property would be ideal for a mixed-use residential, commercial or hotel development.”

He adds that the beachfront site was previously earmarked for a proposed mixed-use development that would have been known as “The Meridian.”

The terms of the auction are that a 10 percent deposit plus commission must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance payable on transfer. Bidders are required to provide copies of their ID documents and proof of residence to register for the auction.
