Sale of ‘hidden gem’ in Wynberg to benefit World Wildlife Fund

Michael James Organisation will bring to market a Wynberg residential property it describes as “a hidden gem” on 11 May. The proceeds of the sale by public auction will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The quaint property is located on the corner of Orient and Mountain View Roads, and is extremely well situated, according to the auction house’s Samantha James. “Wynberg borders Kenilworth to the north, Plumstead to the south-east and Constantia to the west,” she says.

The property forms part of the estate of the late DJ Malley and instructions have been taken from the executors.

The home has original Oregon pine flooring, high ceilings and Victorian accents, including arches, a handcrafted wooden fireplace surround and cottage doors, says James.

It includes an entrance hall with the characteristic arch of the Victorian era, an open-plan lounge/dining room with fireplace, a tiled kitchen with solid pine cabinetry and counter tops, three bedrooms with main en-suite, a family bathroom and a guest toilet.

It also has a guest cottage/domestic quarters, a separate storeroom and a single automated garage, she says.

23 Orient Road, Wynberg, will be sold by auction on site at 11.15am Wednesday, 11 May. The property will be available for viewing from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, 8 May, and from 10am on the morning of the auction.
